Latest match reports.

Bristol U11's 4 Southmead U11's 11

an excellent win for Southmead making it their 1st win of the season but it was worth the wait.  The U11's played as a team and passed the ball along the backs with great skill.  At half time the challenge was made that all players had to score, and this nearly happened with only 2 not scoring Man of the match Bradley Ball and Emily Smith who played her heart out despite a bad leg.  The try scoring was brilliant with Mitchell Carpenter getting 1 try, Shaun white 1 try, The brothers Ricky and Joe Haddow getting 1 a piece, Lyndon White and Bradley Allen getting 2 try's and RJ Clark getting a hat trick. Again watch out dads the U11's are ready for you.

Sunday 2nd December

U11's lost 6 - 0 to Dings and again some dogged defence kept the score down playing 13 a side due to the amount of players from both sides made it difficult as we only train to play 9 a side but everyone enjoyed themselves the man of the match was Bradley Allen.

Sunday 6th January, By Muddy

Southmead u 11's lost by 3 tries to nil to Dings u11's. A great game enjoyed by all, man of the match Phil Adams was just ahead of the rest of the team and was awarded man of the match for his determination in the tackle and his running with the ball, Phil along with alot of the team has been improving with every game played, again it was a 12 a side game due to the number of u 11's there R J Clark stepped into to scrum half and had an excellent game along with Bradley Ball and Captain Bradley Allen, who's tackling skills amaze everyone, Joe and Ricky Haddow again have shown a great improvement in there tackling.

So keep it up lads, keep working in every game even if we lose we can take a positive out of the game and work on it for the next game.

The best part for all the lads as they said after the game was that they ENJOYED it and that has to be what junior Rugby is about.

Sunday 13th January

U11's v Cotham Park

Again a mix up and we played there U12's and there experience showed, but in the 2nd half Southmeads hard work began to show when we started pushing them in the scrums and our rucking became a lot better. Joint Man of the Match went to Bradley Ball for a great game at fly half and Lyndon (Forest) White for his great defensive tackling, Emily Smith had a great game when she went into the front row and held her own and also went to ground well and presented the ball, RJ Clark again was a livewire creating all sorts of problems for the defence but unfortunately Southmead just could not cross Cotham Parks try line, a mention to Daniel Thornley and Bradley Allen who both went off injured when hurt in try saving tackles.

Sunday 10th January

North Bristol/Areitians 8 Southmead 1

North Bristol and Areitians U11's have joined together due to lack of players in this age group, again Southmead turned up to find themselves against bigger opposition, but this did not put anyone of them off in fact this turned out to be one of their best game yet.

The score was a little unfair to say the least and the supporters from North Bristol and Areitians were full of praise and said Southmead were the best team they have seen this season who never gave up and they could not believe how for kids of their size they seemed to tackle anyone no matter how big they were.

Captain Bradley Allen, Jimmy Brock (MOTM), RJ Clark, Ricky Haddow, Joe Haddow, Cory Morgan the try scorer, Mitchell Carpenter, Daniel Thornley and his sister (sorry Fletch going to spell her name wrong now) Aisha Thornley, Jake Smith, Lydon (Forest Gump) White and Simon Smith all played like a team and worked extremely hard at their tackles and rucking.  it was hard to pick a Man of the match as everyone of them played brilliantly.

For the 1st time this season Southmead used lineout calls and you all guessed it Muddy ball was called and Cory Morgan scored directly from it.  Ricky Haddow again proved that with determination and with excellent driving from the forwards that you can drive a maul 40 meters up a pitch and still keep the ball,  RJ Clark and Bradley Allen again proved it doesn't matter how big they are if you tackle correctly they go down.

Comment of the match from Little Bradley Allen "I Love tackling people your size Muddy I make um ???? down" Curly don't upset him I believe he will do the same to you.

When you read this kids keep up the good work, in 7 years time I May have to put my kit on again just to have 1 senior game with you all, you honestly make my commitment to the Junior section worth every minute and words can't describe how proud I am to be your coach and remember the harder we train the better we get.

Don't forget the game this Saturday meet at 10am at the club for a 11am kick off at North Bristol against Shipton on Stour.

Southmead U11's 2  Cotham Park 8

Man of the Match RJ Clark scored both tries in this defeat,  At times Southmead looked like this was going to be a good win against a well organised side, with some great forward runs from Mitchell Carpenter,Cory Morgan and Emily Smith.  When we went to ground and rucked we retained the ball well.

Shaun White, Bradley Ball, Simon Smith all made great runs which would have ended in tries except from some good defence from Cotham Park.

Daniel Thornley, Jimmy Brock, Stephen Thompson,Bradley Allen, Ricky Haddow and Lyndon (ForestGump) White all tackled there hearts out.

The one thing about the U11's is no matter what the score they all put every bit of effort they have into the game and always come off the pitch happy, because no matter what the result, they have enjoyed themselves.
